![]() The thought of a new Google Play release from Mozilla with Oauth2 fixes may be the encouragement that existing users need to stick around," he said. "Today, some K-9 Mail users have switched to using K-9 Mail for their non-Gmail mail and the Google Gmail app to check Gmail. Overall, Mozilla's adoption of K-9 Mail will be welcome to its existing users, many of whom use Thunderbird on their desktops for a similar multiple-inbox workflow, Cornwall said. "Users are left with workarounds involving two-factor authentication for Gmail, and no real workaround for Outlook when organizations require an OAuth2 login." "This has been a perennial complaint (since at least 2015) and the issue has now been forced: Google has disabled the traditional way that most K-9 Mail users used to access their Gmail," Cornwall said. Instead of being welcomed, the in focus upset many existing users, Cornwall said.Īnother concern for existing users of K-9 Mail was its support for OAuth2, an authorization protocol that allows the client to access email resources of the user without sharing passwords. The release included an updated user interface that focused on a single inbox rather than multiple inboxes. In January, a new 6.000 release went out to the Play Store, a move that surpised many users. As of today, it’s listed as having 5M+ downloads on Google Play," Cornwall said.ĭevelopment of K-9, however, stalled and the code was basically in "maintenance mode," he noted. About ten years ago it was among the most recommended third-party email clients for Android, and a lot of long-time users have stuck with it. "K-9 was one of the first third-party email clients on Android, and it developed a large user base among users who had to keep track of multiple inboxes. The feature is expected to be implemented in the summer of 2023.Īndrew Cornwall, a senior analyst with research firm Forrester, called the K-9 Mail annoucement "significant." Mozilla plans to offer Firefox Sync as one option to allow users to securely sync accounts between Thunderbird and K-9. "In other words, K-9 Mail will soar to greater heights with the help of Thunderbird.” Ryan Lee Sipes, Thunderbird Product Manager, said working with the Thunderbird email team to develop the new mobile client made more sense than developing a mobile client from scratch. “Joining the Thunderbird family allows K-9 to become more sustainable and gives us the resources to implement long-requested features and fixes that our users want," Sipes said. Thunderbird is a free and open-source email, calendaring, newsfeed, and chat client with more than 20 million active monthly users across Windows, macOS, and Linux.Ĭurrently, Android mobile users have a number of email and chat options, including Google’s Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, and ProtonMail, an end-to-end encrypted email service. (Ketterer is better known in the Mozilla open-source developer community as cketti.) “Ultimately, K-9 Mail will transform into Thunderbird on Android, once certain development milestones have been achieved which align it closely with Thunderbird's feature set and visual appearance,” K-9 Mail Project Maintainer Christian Ketterer said in a blog post. (K-9 Mail is available for download through these various sites.) Those planned improvements include account setup using Thunderbird account auto-configuration, as well as folder management, support for message filters, and synchronization between desktop and mobile versions of Thunderbird, Mozilla said. The development team for MZLA Technologies plans to improve the email feature set to more closely resemble that of its Thunderbird desktop email client.

It's not found in very high concentrations in dry erase markers. Xylene is found in almost all dry erase markers, unless it's specifically labeled "xylene-free." Xylene is a petroleum byproduct. May 19, It can be harmful if the dry erase marker contains xylene and if it is used and inhaled a lot. But dry erase markers are not that cheap and as a child, that's what I would do. Obviously, I wouldn't recommend anyone to do that. So when my dry erase markers ran out, I would open up the back and add alcohol to it to make it run longer. I didn't want to keep asking my parents for new ones. The only problem with dry erase markers is they run out kind of fast. It sounds funny, but it was a lot of fun and I would learn a lot! I would pretend that I was the teacher and would teach a lesson using the board. I would use them to study and do my homework. When I was younger, I had gotten a small white board for my room and washable dry erase markers in different colors. I put some hand sanitizer on a tissue and it cleaned up perfectly. I had that problem one time when the dry board eraser wasn't working. Yes, dry erase markers come off, but if you keep writing on them for very long, it becomes really hard to wipe away sometimes. One good tip I do have for dry erase markers is using hand sanitizer to clean old marks from boards. ![]() Not only does it save money, but it's good for the environment too because you're re-using the marker. You just take out the used up ink pouch and put in a new one. ![]() There are refillable dry erase markers on the market now. It's too runny and leaky and can ruin the board and your clothes! Not to mention the smell! But it's really not a good idea because the color doesn't come through right. May 20, Oh yea, I heard that some people do that with acetone. Or I use Sharpie if I want to keep what's on the sheet. Instead of using the wet erase markers, which are a pain, I often just use dry erase markers with a fine point to write on transparency sheets, and then I don't have to use water and make a big mess to clean the reusable sheets. I can get regular ink out just fine by using hairspray, but I haven' t yet found anything that gets out dry erase marks or dust.īut I do like them, and I use them with my overhead projector as well. Those must only be useful for people who write on the board to solve math problems and things of that nature that don't need to be seen by other people.Īs a teacher, the problem I always have with the dry erase markers is that the dust stains your cose. I can't imagine that people far away would be able to read words written with an extra fine tip dry erase marker. This made it easy to get enough ink out onto the board to make the words very readable. They were slightly angled, but they were the same width all the way across. The only kind of dry erase markers I have ever used had rectangular tips. You just had to use the big separate one that resembled a chalkboard eraser. There were no fruity scents available, and you also couldn't get markers with erasers on top. This was back in the day when the markers smelled terrible. I did a lot of “reverse drawings” like this as a kid. I could use the big rectangular eraser that came with the board to erase shapes out of an area that I had colored in with the markers. I liked to draw with wide tipped dry erase markers as a child. So many times, I have accidentally marked my skirts and shirts with markers, and that's a good reason to love the retractable kind. ![]() It's also nice to know that my nice work clothes won't wind up with color spots on them. Retracting the tip keeps my hands clean as I move them around. I tend to talk with my hands a lot, and if I use a regular marker, then I end up with the color all over my fingers by the end of the meeting. I can carry them in my bag without worrying about ink spills or accidental marks being made on important papers.Īlso, I can retract the marker in between making points. I use retractable dry erase markers when I give presentations at work on the white board. Dry erase markers are pretty cheap, though, so I usually just buy some more. Of course, I can only do this so much until the ink totally runs out. I keep going until the marker starts to produce ink again. I tie a piece of dental floss around the marker and do a lassoing motion above my head several times quickly. What I've always done is try to shake what little ink remains in a marker back to the tip. I've never seen any refill packs for dry erase markers, so I just assumed that they weren't available. May 24, – I didn't know that there was such a thing as the refillable kind. ![]() kali-tools-database: Selected tools for any database attacks.kali-tools-web: Designed to attack web applications.kali-tools-vulnerability: Tools for finding vulnerability.kali-tools-information-gathering: Used for open source intelligence (OSINT) and information gathering. When installing a meta-package, the corresponding menu item will be created automatically, and relevant programs will also be automatically placed in it.
